Code of Conduct & FAQ
Workshop Code of Conduct
Please note that our workshops are designed exclusively for adult participants. To ensure a safe, supportive, and enjoyable experience for everyone, we ask that you respect these core principles:
-
Be welcoming and respectful: Bring a warm attitude to the space, treat others with kindness, and respect personal boundaries.
-
Be inclusive: Keep an open mind and embrace the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of fellow participants.
-
Be present: Be an active participant to give yourself and others the chance to foster an engaging group dynamic.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, hate speech, or aggressive behaviour of any kind. To ensure everyone's safety, please do not attend under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol, and do not bring any substances to the venue. While we are entirely non-judgmental, these boundaries are essential for the well-being of the group. The facilitator reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the workshop immediately if they violate these principles or disrupt the safety of the environment.
FAQ
Where is The Centre for Human Connections located?
We do not have a permanent space right now. Instead, we host our workshops at various locations throughout Greater Victoria.
Is your location wheelchair accessible?
You can find accessibility information in the specific event details. Because we use various venues, please contact us directly to confirm. Let us know the title and date of the workshop you wish to attend, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
I am quite shy and usually uncomfortable in groups. Are these workshops for me?
We completely understand that everyone has a different comfort level in group settings. One of our main goals is to create a welcoming environment where you can connect with others at your own pace. We do our best to ensure all participants feel safe and included. If it helps ease your mind, you are welcome to connect with the facilitator before the workshop begins. They can answer your questions, share what to expect, and help you feel more comfortable.
I am very outgoing and love socializing with people. Can I still attend your workshops?
Absolutely! We welcome all personality types at our workshops, from introverts to extroverts and everyone in between.
Is it guaranteed that I'll make new friends if I attend your workshops?
While we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, we do our best to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to connect with others. True connections often take time, and we encourage letting friendships develop naturally. Our ultimate goal is to provide you with the tools and confidence to build meaningful relationships both inside and outside of our workshops.
Are your workshops designed for dating?
Our workshops are not specifically designed for dating. Our primary goal is to help you build meaningful connections with other participants and provide you with social tools for your daily life. That said, organic connections of all kinds can happen when people come together—so you never know who you might meet!
What are the minimum and maximum number of participants for your workshops?
Attendance limits vary depending on the specific workshop and venue. You can find these details in each published event listing. Please note that if minimum attendance is not met 24 hours before the event begins, we reserve the right to cancel the workshop and issue a full refund.
Do you offer workshop series for fixed cohorts?
Offering workshop series for fixed cohorts is definitely in our plans! Because we currently operate out of various venues rather than a permanent location, we are unable to offer this format just yet. Stay tuned to our updates as we work on bringing this to life.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. Our workshops are strictly designed for participants aged 19 and older to ensure a comfortable and mature environment for all discussions.
What should I bring or wear?
There is no dress code—please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in! Our workshops involve normal, everyday physical activity like sitting, standing, and walking around the room with others, so nothing will be physically demanding. All materials for the activities are provided, so you just need to bring yourself.
What happens if I am running late?
Because our workshops rely on group dynamics, we start promptly at the listed time. We kindly ask that you arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in.
What kind of snacks and drinks will be available?
We will have water, coffee, tea, and sweet treats like muffins, cookies, and cereal bars ready for you! Please note that we are unable to cater to specific dietary preferences or restrictions, so you are welcome to bring your own snacks if needed. While we do our best to serve nut-free snacks, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. We ask that participants with food allergies take any necessary precautions for their safety.
Am I allowed to bring my own food and drinks?
You are welcome to bring your own light snacks and non-alcoholic hot or cold drinks (please refer to our Code of Conduct above regarding alcohol). However, we ask that you avoid bringing full meals like sandwiches or salads, as these can be difficult to eat during our interactive activities.
Can I buy a ticket at the door? Do I need to book in advance?
To ensure we have enough materials and the correct group size, all tickets must be purchased online in advance. Registration typically closes 24 hours before the event begins.
Can I contact you on the day of the event if I am lost or running late?
To ensure we can focus entirely on setting up the space and providing the best possible experience for our attendees, we are unable to respond to emails or messages on the day of the workshop. If you have any questions about the venue, parking, or logistics, please reach out to us at least 24 hours before the event begins. Because our workshops rely on group dynamics, we start promptly at the listed time. If you run late or cannot make it at the last minute, please note that we will be unable to troubleshoot or delay the session, but we will look forward to connecting with you at a future event.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Because we host interactive social workshops, group dynamics and upfront venue and material costs are highly important to us. Cancellations are permitted up to 7 days before the event for a full refund. Within 7 days of the event, tickets become non-refundable; however, they are fully transferable to a friend or can be applied to a future workshop date (subject to availability).
